Parents, mark your calendars!

Hola 399 Parents,

Here’s a quick news alert so you can begin to prepare for our new year.

  • Our first den meetings will be held Tuesday, September 9 at 7 the Violet cafeteria, as usual. That night will also be a recruitment night for us. We plan to send recruitment flyers home in Violet students’ folders the week prior so they’ll know they’re invited to attend. (We’d love to have a Membership Chair who can welcome new Scouts and take their registration fees. Who’s willing to step up?)
  • Our popcorn sale kickoff will be Friday night, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Violet (awaiting confirmation for the location). Dinner will be served. We’ll have popcorn tasting, announce our sales goal, and reveal prizes for our highest sellers.

*NOTE: Paul will be out of town for several days that week and won’t be in attendance. Since I’ll be picking up popcorn inventory and sorting it out in advance of the kickoff, I need help arranging food for the meeting. Will someone please lend me a hand?

  • Please see the pack calendar on the website for all future den and pack meeting dates. Special events will be added periodically, so check back often.
  • People, for the love of Scouting, VISIT VOLUNTEER SPOT by clicking the button on our website. Since we’re still a small group, we need every single parent to contribute to the pack in some measure. We’re still in need of den leaders for the Tigers and Wolves, and we’re also lacking an assistant Cubmaster, a Committee Chair, a Membership Chair, and an Advancement Chair. We also have opportunities for parents to sign up to lead individual den meetings or provide fun activities for meetings.

In the coming days, I’ll add sign-up slots for every single den meeting we have scheduled. Please take some time before September 9 to commit to help however you can. We need you!

Big Changes Coming 2014-2015!

Howdy, Pack 399 parents!

We appreciate all the great suggestions parents offered at our end-of-year (well, mid-summer) cookout. We’re happy to report that we’ve established a group signup page on, and we’re working to solidify meeting, outing, and event dates so we can get the ball rolling. Look for the new VolunteerSpot parent signup button on the pack website.

Our aim is to have every parent participate so no parent feels overwhelmed–all with the greater goal of giving our boys the best possible scouting experience.

We’re also working on simplifying the descriptions of unfilled pack leadership posts on our website and providing opportunities for parents to split leadership responsibilities.

In the days to come, keep your eyes peeled for an email/blog update/Facebook post about our first den meeting, which will likely take place after Labor Day weekend.

Enjoy your remaining summer days!
